Gordon Swaby

Gordon Swaby is the CEO of the multiple award winning EduFocal Limited, a company that he founded in March 2012. EduFocal is an online social learning community and can be found at http://www.edufocal.com. The company is focused on using technology to enrich the learning experience outside of the classroom as well as to help ideate and innovate the way we move forward with technology in education.

At 15, he created one of the largest video gaming resource websites in the English speaking Caribbean, the now defunct advance-gamers.com

A short while after, Swaby founded Iconictouch, a concept and design company, and became even more steeped in entrepreneurship.

During that time, Swaby made websites for prominent organizations/institutions including: The Press Association of Jamaica, Coastal Steel Construction Limited, the largest steel company in Northwestern Ontario, and the Bethune Dubois institute.

Swaby is also a member of prestigious Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean. First launched in South Africa, the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship is known as unique launch pad for aspiring business owners to get access to skills training, guidance and mentorship as well as financing opportunities to enable growth. The Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship for the Caribbean is headquartered in Montego Bay and was launched in 2011.

He is also a Private Sector Organization (PSOJ) 50under 50 awardee. An award which recognizes the achievements of 50 of Jamaica’s civic and business leaders under the age of 50 who, based on their current achievements, are poised to influence and shape our nation’s future.

In 2012, Swaby was recognized by the University of Technology as the “Top Client Of the student incubator” of the Technology Innovation Centre, Business Incubator. He was also again recognized by the University as the top student entrepreneur for 2012. He is also the recipient of many other awards.

Gordon is the Curator of the Kingston Hub of World Economic Forum's Global Shapers. A network of Hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievement and their drive to make a contribution to their communities.

In 2014, Gordon was recognized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) along with 9 others from Latin America and the Caribbean as innovators and travelled to Bahia, Brazil to present to their Board of Governors and president, Luis Alberto Moreno. He has represented his company and country in Panama, Washington D.C, Geneva and other countries.
